I have posted a few times this year about my kids (10, 12 and 14) and how they still use so many of their 'Waldorf Toys'. I am always amazed to find them playing with the wooden figures, wooden kitchen set or the silks or other things I invested so much money (or time, if I made it) into when they were little. It makes me so happy to see them still using those same toys! Last weekend I was amazed yet again when Mosi, my 14-year-old, dressed as a fairy for the Renassaince Festival and wore the silk wings that I bought her when she was 4-years old! Amazing!

I feel the same way about our wooden blocks. They were my SIL's for her kids and childcare. Her kids are in their twenties now. My kids range from 12 to a newborn. The 12 year old still plays with the almost daily. They are in such good shape, too.
This just shows that not only are these types of "toys" high-quality, but magical, too. I can't think of any other type of toy that would last so long, or be enjoyed by children who are pre-teenage. I love the fairy outfits! Great post. :)
So true! Those simple toys stand the test of time. I think, even, the simpler the toy, the longer it lasts. My 14 year old still has special sticks that he found when he was 3!
My eldest girl is 11 and still plays with her waldorf dolls and ostheimer animals every day - I love that she has been able to hold onto the magic of childhood. What an amazing blog you have, I'm just starting out, but I've linked to you as a resource on my Story Tree blog, hope you don't mind.
Thank you for visiting Heather, Jennifer and Melissa! Heather- your story reminds me of our blocks again! They belonged to my dad when he was little. My grandpa made them and when my grandmother died and they said "please take what you would like from her home" I took the blocks - they have so many memories. I also took a little bunny she painted on wood. I have good memories of her teaching me how to paint with oil paints every summer. Melissa - I am off to visit your BLOG...story tree! Fun!
